Wonder of wonders, we made it out of Arkansas! Hallelujah!!
Yesterday we blew through Oklahoma and have stayed the night in Amarillo, TX. If we reroute our driving plan to skip Phoenix, we can make it to Joshua Tree in 16+ hours according to Google maps. I'm just not certain that we can do that much driving in one day. I think that it is more likely that we might make Grand Canyon tonight (10+ hrs) and then have the 6 to Joshua Tree tomorrow. This will leave us some time to unpack then drive on to Los Angeles to get the stuff that came in via train a few days ago.
So although our trip started yesterday looking lush and green, I suspect that the southwest has started to creep in. I expect we'll see a very different landscape when we open the curtains this morning and venture out.
I have hardly slept tonight. My allergies have been driving me nuts since the tail end of Oklahoma and just won't let me sleep. This will slow us down some too, if I'm too sleepy to do much driving.
Well, wish us luck!
Yeah! Back in business! - too bad you have to skip Phx, but you will be so close for the next few months you can surely get out there soon.
J - there wasn't a job in Memphis? I thought for sure that would be your new home!
